Eric had listened to each student speak, his eyes followed their mannerisms, their behavior, and he assessed one thing to another by the time they were finished. Soon he had two rows down and was half way through the next when he found himself particularly interested in what the blond had to say. Legolas. It was such a name, yet he couldn’t conceive of what such a name meant. He couldn’t place it, regardless his desire to. It wasn’t like George, Amber, Paul, Anthony, Virgil, Sarah, or any other name he’s ever heard in his life before. There was a strange pull within him that wanted to know that name before—

but it was strange enough that he could not have known it before. Eric settled the feeling with acknowledgement for uniqueness and moved on.

“I’m James, from Essex.. for the last few years I lived in New York and studied abroad before returning—“ another student took their turn and Eric moved his attention in motion of the students taking their turn. Although, he couldn’t help but return his gaze tot he blonde. He covered that curious glance best he could by making it a point to then look to another student, and another, consciously taking effort to appear equally interested. Even if he wasn’t.

Once all was said and done he commented on the array of individuals gathered here. “I think you will find it most appropriate that there are various instructors, mentors, and people you will meet that will compliment your interests. With some of you having spoken about your interest in combat, weaponry, engineering, tactical combat, and so forth… the further you come along in the program the more you’ll find yourself able to tailor your experiences here that will allow you plenty of opportunities for growth.” His eyes then shot back to Legolas. He huffed through his nostrils and turned his back to the class to step around his desk to open up his briefcase.

The next two hours he outlined the expectations of their course within this quarter of their program. Some students were not necessarily on the same program, per say, they each had their outfitted and personalized program that would help them advance in the areas they wished to and some were still in the general stage until they were decided. For the most part, however, they were going to be going through a lot of the same academic and physical training.

He was not only their instructor, commander, captain, he was also their mentor and guidance counselor. He would be spending a lot of time with each of them and he would know their strengths and help them all with resources and plans of action to help them excel.

Gods help me….. why am I here?

Soon enough it was time to break for lunch and he excused them all for the cafeteria. He did not follow, save for his eyes as he watched each of his cadets leave his classroom. His eyes particularly followed Legolas. Once they returned he would need to go over some things about the functions of the program online via their tablets. Navigating the online classroom and schedule blocks. There was the matter of house rules as well. He was stationed on the west wing, with his cadets. Essentially, he would see them entirely too much throughout his day and night. Eric swallowed and stood from his desk with the intention to follow them to the cafeteria.

The rest of the day flew by, all too quickly, though there was some gratitude for that. They would hold weekly schedules, like a job, they would work through the week and their weekends were for chores and play. Even the weekend, still, was scheduled and designed for the year. It was to be expected, Eric lived this life for some time and he recalled the rare occasion or two that something wasn’t planned that happened in his days of training.

It was after supper that he followed the cadets back to their quarters. A few of the kids were asking all sorts of questions - freely addressed as permission was given - and Eric responded to them with his best answers though he didn’t know all of the answers. The strangest question he’d had thus far was: If we were on a complete like … weather disaster emergency.. do we have a safe place to go.. like a storm shelter? Eric hadn’t the bloodiest clue if they did or not. He assumed the place was equipped with a bomb shelter but he didn’t know that! He certainly never had to use it! Either way it got him to chuckle.
